The highly anticipated final design from the annual New Zealand Silver Dollar 1oz coin series honours the Haast tokoeka – one of New Zealand’s largest and most endangered kiwi species.
Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Endangered Kiwi Reverse
The coin’s reverse portrays the Haast tokoeka. With no more than 300 to 350 remaining, this extremely rare kiwi is mainly found at the bush line and fertile base of mountain slopes in the isolated Haast area of South Westland in the South Island.
New Zealand Legal Tender
The coin, which is issued as legal tender of New Zealand, portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2008 year-date on the obverse.
Extremely Limited Availability
New Zealand Post will issue no more than 5,000 of these silver proof coins.
Presentation Display Case
Each coin is housed in a blue presentation case and illustrated box-shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
