Greater Blue Mountains
Inscribed in 2000, the Greater Blue Mountains just to the west of Sydney consist of more than one million hectares of sandstone plateaux, escarpments and gorges dominated by temperate eucalypt forest. The coin’s reverse depicts the Three Sisters rock formation from Echo Point in colour. The design includes a Blue Mountains Tree Frog, an inhabitant of the region’s rocky rivers and streams.
‘P’ Mintmark
The coin’s reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
