Shark Bay
Inscribed in 1991, Shark Bay, an area of 2.3 million hectares on the most westerly edge of the Australian continent, is the remarkable meeting point for tropical, desert and temperate climatic regions. The coin’s coloured reverse symbolises seagrass in Shark Bay’s sun-warmed waters. The design includes a dugong, a wonderful inhabitant of an area teeming with marine life.
‘P’ Mintmark
The coin’s reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
