The Australian Florin was first minted in 1910. This superb collection of 99.9% pure silver proof commemoratives harkens back to the golden days of Australian society with each coin reflecting a landmark in the development of the nation’s history.
This set will be released as a four coin subscription only with one coin being issued each month between November 2010 and February 2011.
Historical Reverse Designs
The original historical reverse designs have been recreated and include:
- The 1927 Australian florin commemorating the opening of the original Parliament House, designed by George Kruger Gray. Released November 2010.
- The 1934-5 Australian florin commemorating the Centenary of Victoria and the establishment of the City of Melbourne, designed by George Kruger Gray. Released February 2011.
- The 1951 Australian florin commemorating 50 years of the Commonwealth of Australia, designed by Leslie Bowles. Released December 2010.
- The 1954 Australian florin commemorating the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia, designed by Leslie Bowles. Released January 2011.
Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Cook Islands, the obverse of each coin depicts the respective reigning monarch of the original design bordered by the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, the year-date and monetary denomination.
Limited Mintage
No more than 1,500 commemarative Florin Silver sets will be released which will accompany the first coin.
Presentation Packaging
Each four coin collection will be housed in a prestigious high-gloss timber case which will accompany the first coin. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the final coin.
