Australian Lunar Coin
The Australian Lunar Series coin, struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze, depicts a
pig, the Chinese character for 'pig' and the 2007 year-date. These shiny design elements
appear on a frosted background portraying a Chinese setting.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the 50c coin's obverse
depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
First Day Cover Envelope
The coin is mounted on a brightly illustrated card featuring Chinese-style illustrations. The
card and coin are presented in a first day cover envelope featuring a circular window to
reveal the coin.
Christmas Island Stamps
The envelope displays $1.45 and 50c Christmas Island Lunar New Year stamps issued by
Australian Post. Depicting pigs and the words CHRISTMAS ISLAND and AUSTRALIA, both stamps are
postmarked 8 January 2007.
