Buy the 150th Anniversary of A.B. “Banjo” Patterson 5oz and 1oz Silver and 1/4oz Gold proof coins from The Perth Mint today. Commemorating 150 years since the birth of Andrew Barton “Banjo” Paterson CBE (1864 – 1941), The Perth Mint is proud to present a limited number of the 2014-dated coins which pay homage to Paterson’s love of the Australian bush.
One of Australia’s most loved and favourite bush poets, Paterson grew up in rural New South Wales, which engendered a lifelong love of the Australian bush and its characters. His most notable poems include Waltzing Matilda, The Man from Snowy River and Clancy of the Overflow. Paterson’s poems present a highly romantic view of rural Australia in the 19th century. He wrote for the men and women of the land who were battling in the face of flood, drought, disaster and the harsh reality of rural living, and established the character of ‘the bushman’ as a romantic archetype in the national consciousness.
The 5oz silver coin will be presented in a prestigious wooden display stand alongside a stunning gold foiled $10.00 banknote, encased within a themed shipper. Individually presented in a classic black and timber box are the 1oz silver and 1/4oz gold coins. A numbered Certificate verifies the authenticity of each issue.
