Dated 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, each Countdown coin is struck from cupro-nickel to brilliant uncirculated quality.
United Kingdom Legal Tender
Each coin is issued as legal tender of the United Kingdom with the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II represented on the obverse.
Complementary Reverse Designs
Created by Claire Aldridge, the four reverse designs complement one another beautifully, each featuring a border symbolising a bird’s eye view of the new Olympic stadium, a countdown ‘clock’ and the London 2012 logo.
Free Countdown Collection Box
Housed in individual presentation cards, the 2009 and 2010 coins come with a free Countdown Collection box to which you can add your 2011 and 2012 coins when they become available. The 2009 coin features the sport of swimming, while the 2010 coin depicts the sport of athletics.
Limited Mintage
The 2009 coin has a worldwide mintage of 500,000. The 2010 coin a worldwide mintage of 250,000.
