Landmarks Theme – Darwin

The coin’s reverse represents Darwin, capital of Northern Territory.  Despite failed early attempts to create an outpost on Australia’s north coast, Darwin, has prospered.  Savagely bombed during WWII and devastated by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day in 1974, the resilient town is a dynamic and exciting place to live.

Coloured Reverse Design

The reverse portrays the water of Darwin Harbour in colour, with a barramundi, mangroves and a ship.  The design also incorporates the year-date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
