In each year of the Discover Australia program, the Fauna Gold Series comprises five designs portraying iconic Australian animals. In 2008, the coins depict:

Each coin is struck from 1/10oz and 1/25oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.  No more than 2,500 of each 1/10oz coin, and 25,000 of each 1/25oz coin will be released.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins depict Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. (1/10oz denomination used in obverse illustration.)
