Discover Australia is a magnificent collector coin program from the historic Perth Mint. Scheduled for release between 2006 and 2008, the program comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Australia's amazing fauna, landmarks and flora.

Fauna Theme - Kookaburra
The reverse of each coin depicts three Kookaburras. The raucous chuckling of the Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae), a territorial call, is one of the most familiar sounds of the Australian bush. The bird's close relative, the Blue-Winged Kookaburra (Dacelo leachii), which prefers Australia's tropical coastal fringes, has an equally startling cry comprising a series of high-pitched, coughing cackles. The year-date and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Australian Legal Tender Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins depict Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Uniquely Australian Packaging Each coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian jarrah timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.
Numbered Certificate of Authenticity Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,500 1/10oz and 25,000 1/25oz coins worldwide. |
