Discover Australia is a magnificent collector coin program from the historic Perth Mint. Scheduled for release between 2006 and 2008, the program comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Australia's amazing fauna, landmarks and flora.

Landmarks Theme - Great Barrier Reef
The coin's reverse depicts the Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of the world. Located in warm tropical waters off north-eastern Australia, the World Heritage listed site comprises more than 3,000 reefs covering an area greater than 300,000 square kilometres. Renowned for the variety and colour of its corals and sponges, the Reef supports an astonishing array of wildlife, including 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc.
Coloured Reverse Design
The coin's reverse depicts a marine turtle, corals and a shoal of fish, which are portrayed against a blue background. The year-date and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin depicts Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

Each coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian sheoak timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.

Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of these coins worldwide.
