 Discover Australia is a magnificent collector coin program from the historic Perth Mint. Scheduled for release between 2006 and 2008, the program comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Australia's amazing fauna, landmarks and flora.

Fauna Theme – Tasmanian Devil
The reverse of each coin depicts a Tasmanian Devil (Sarcophilus harrisii). Once common throughout the continent, Australia's largest carnivorous marsupial is today only found in Tasmania. To European settlers, the querulous creature's black fur and bloodcurdling screeches made it a 'devil'. To its prey, it is even worse. The bone-crunching jaws of a Tasmanian Devil rarely leave any remains. The year-date and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins depict Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Uniquely Australian Packaging
Each coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian jarrah timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.
Numbered Certificate of Authenticity
Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,500 1/10oz and 25,000 1/25oz coins worldwide. |
