Goethe compared the child-prodigy Mendelssohn to the young Mozart. Berlioz said “There is one god - Bach - and Mendelssohn is his prophet.” Unquestionably one of the most gifted composers of all time, Felix Mendelssohn is the perfect choice to begin this superb new five-coin series celebrating anniversaries of Romantic-era musicians.
