The Perth Mint takes pleasure in issuing a 1oz silver coin in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Accession to the Throne of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Trooping the Colour Central Design The central design depicts The Queen on horseback during the Trooping the Colour ceremony, held annually to mark her official birthday. A coloured image of the Union Jack flag is shown in the background. The outer design displays a ring of Foot Guards, who are most often seen on duty outside Buckingham Palace. Each year, one of five regiments - Grenadiers, Coldstream Guards, Scots, Irish or Welsh Guards – displays its Colour in this ceremony. The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark is included in the design. Royal Blue Flag-Shaped Presentation Case Each individual coin is housed in a royal blue, flag-shaped presentation case with the Union Jack printed on the outside of the lid, accompanied by a serial-numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Royal Approval With the design approved by Buckingham Palace, the majestic coin is legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. It is struck from 99.9% pure silver, in proof-like quality, and carries the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination of $1.00 on the obverse. Limited Issue No more than 40,000 individual 1oz silver coins will be released.
