Captain Sisko is a man of action with a bold, no-nonsense persona, full of conviction and passion. He joined Starfleet Academy in 2350 and studied to be an engineer. He met his future wife, Jennifer, after graduation and together they had a son named Jake. Jennifer was later killed in the Borg attack, Battle of Wolf 359, which was led by the assimilated Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard as Locutus of Borg. Faced with raising his son alone, Sisko initially objected to his assignment on Deep Space 9, telling Starfleet he would prefer an Earth assignment.
Captain Sisko and his crew must fight off rival alien species that are vying for control over the space station because of its position close to the wormhole, which enables speedy travel to the far reaches of space.
