‘Gold Standard’ Reference Updated
Michael Marsh’s book The Gold Sovereign quickly became the standard reference on the history of Britain’s classic gold coin after it was first published in 1980. Now, 15 years after the last revision, it has been combined with Marsh’s book The Half Sovereign to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the release of modern sovereign in 1817.
The material, which has been revised and updated by professional numismatist Steve Hill, also includes details of the role of Australia’s three colonial mints in sovereign production between 1855 and 1931.
Many images have been updated since the previous edition with the coin examples featured shown at actual size. The book also includes illustrations created with the use of a Scanning Electron Microscope.
Large 252mm x 176mm hardcover presentation with 208 pages.
