Hundreds of thousands of participants will celebrate World Youth Day in Sydney in July 2008 with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, who is coming to Australia for the first time.
Incorporates Perth Mint $1 Coin
A wonderful memento to remember the Papal visit by, this Stamp and Coin Cover from Australia Post incorporates a $1 commemorative coin struck by The Perth Mint from aluminium bronze (30mm).
Coloured Reverse Design
The coin’s Vatican-approved reverse design, which includes the official WYD08 logo, depicts Pope Benedict XVI in superb colour. The reverse also includes The Perth Mint’s historic ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
Illustrated Envelope and 50c Stamp
The coin is presented in an envelope illustrated with the Pope dressed in a formal robe and mitre. The same image also appears on Australia Post’s 50c World Youth Day stamp, postmarked 4 March 2008.
“DNA” Seal of Authenticity
The Stamp and Coin Cover displays Australia Post's “DNA” Seal of Authenticity. An additional brand integrity label also shows it to be official licensed merchandise of World Youth Day Sydney 2008.
