 In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Pig - 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2007 - are regarded as gallant, honest, generous and intelligent.
Year of the Pig Design
In 2007, the Australian Lunar Gold Proof Issue celebrates the Year of the Pig with a design depicting a pig standing in a bed of mushrooms. The Chinese character for ‘pig’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
Proof Quality 99.99% Pure Gold
These 2007-dated coins are struck from 1oz, 1/4oz and 1/10oz of 99.9% pure gold in proof quality. (1oz denomination used in obverse illustration.)
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins feature Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Limited Mintage
The Perth Mint will release just:
- 7,000 individual 1/4oz coins
- 7,000 individual 1/10oz coins
- 3,000 Three-Coin Sets (1oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz)
Elegant Presentation
Individual 1/4oz and 1/10oz coins are housed in a green leatherette case, which is encased within an illustrated outer sleeve. The Three-Coin Set is housed in a timber presentation case and a similar outer sleeve.
Certificate of Authenticity
A numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each individual coin and Three-Coin Set. |
