Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
Viking Warrior Reverse
The design shows a Viking warrior gripping a Dane Axe in both hands. The weapons’ forged heads are decorated to denote the user’s wealth and status. In battle, Vikings wore iron helmets, which in contrast to popular belief did not have horns. Wealthy Viking warriors could also afford a chain mail shirt, which would have been extremely labour-intensive to make.
Legal Tender of Tuvalu
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2010 year-date on the obverse.
Limited Mintage
No more than 5,000 Viking coins will be released.
Presentation Case & Certificate
Each coin is housed in a presentation case and illustrated shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The Great Warriors four-coin series continues with a stunning release portraying a Viking. Beginning in the 8th century, Vikings voyaged from Scandinavia across an area stretching from North America to the Black Sea. Using their famous longships to plunder and later colonise many coastal areas, they were fierce raiders.
